  9. Windows Installation Notes
  10. --------------------------
  11. Use the INSTALL file to install the Windows 3.1 drivers from DOS 
  12. or from the Windows Program Manager.  
  13.  
  14. *  Suggestion:  Use MS VGA when installing from Program Manager 
  15.    to eliminate any OEM files that could create a conflict.
  16.  
  17. *  If the install says "file in use, abort/continue" and the 
  18.    file in question is a font (*.FON) file, continue the install.
  19.  
  20. *  If strange errors occur and text is missing from dialogs,
  21.    check for .VBX files in your \WINDOWS directory.  .VBX files
  22.    should only reside in the \WINDOWS\SYSTEM sub-directory.
  23.  
  24. Once the driver launches Windows, you will be placed in 640x480
  25. 256-color mode and prompted to select your monitor type.  Select 
  26. the brand monitor you have, compatible type, or use the Custom 
  27. Monitor Timings to create your own configuration and custom 
  28. screen centering.
  29.  
  30. *  If you are upgrading from a previous version of the Diamond
  31.    drivers, you MUST install from the DOS prompt.  If you
  32.    install from Windows there is a chance that some of the
  33.    InControl Tools data files will not be properly updated.
  34.    
  35. *  Icon fonts are controlled by InControl Tools.  When changing
  36.    modes back to VGA or a non-Diamond driver, these settings
  37.    still remain.  To change back to default icon font, search
  38.    the WIN.INI file for the IconTypeFace, IconTypeStyle, and
  39.    IconTypeSize lines.  Place a semicolon (;) in front of these
  40.    lines or remove the lines entirely.

  42. *  Only resolutions that have been selected as supported in the
  43.    Display module will be available in the Viewport choices.  If
  44.    your monitor can display a resolution provided by the card,
  45.    go to Display and select a monitor that offers that mode and
  46.    refresh, or select Custom Monitor Timings and Add the mode.
  47.  
  48. *  If Windows only displays a single alphabetic character for the
  49.    icon font, select a different font from the list of InControl
  50.    Tools.  Windows may not support the font type/size requested
  51.    in the resolution and resource size displayed.
  52.  
  53. *  If you had screen savers loaded previously, and they seem not
  54.    to load on startup any longer, see the message at the top 
  55.    regarding backing up important files and the limitation down
  56.    below of LOAD= line being replaced and not appended.  This is
  57.    a limitation of the Windows 3.xx SETUP program. This does not
  58.    occur with the Diamond install.

  77. This v1.03b BETA drivers address the following issues:

  79.     1.  Get GPF (General Protection Fault) in UNIDRV.DLL when printing.
  80.     2.  Support above 60Hz refresh rate at 1024x768x65K.

  84. Known Limitations
  85. -----------------
  86.     
  87.     If you updating the Stealth 32 Windows driver use Windows Setup.exe
  88.     instead of Install.
  89.  
  90.     Adobe Illustrator has a problem with the 16-bit driver. When running 
  91.     Adobe Illustrator please select a non-64k color driver. If you do
  92.     it may reboot your system.
  93.  
  94.     The 64K-color driver has a known bug inserting objects. After 
  95.     inserting the object on Excel or Winword if you double click to edit 
  96.     this object it will change color. Don't save this object with wrong
  97.     colors.
  98.  
  99.     The Tseng 800x600 16 Million colors driver will be available on our 
  100.     BBS.  We will include 800x600 16 Million colors in our next release.
  101.  
  102.     We and Adobe are current working on this problems and we will post 
  103.     an update for this drivers as soon as possible.
